Published: 26-Nov-2009

Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and ConocoPhillips have set February 28, 2010 as the last date for submission of bids for a solids unit at their joint 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) Yanbu refinery, Reuters reported. The refinery is part of Saudi Arabia's plans to two fold total domestic and international refining capacity by 2015.

There are 11 engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages for the Yanbu refinery. Saudi Aramco and ConocoPhillips told contractors they would have to submit their proposals by January 31, 2009 for five other EPC packages that comprise of a coking unit, a crude facility, a gasoline unit, a hydrocracker and a tank farm.

The two companies plan aim to award all contracts in May 2010. They aim to complete construction of the refinery by March 1, 2014.

The companies bidding for the solids handling package include GC Corporation, Saipem, Petrofac Ltd, Techint, Senet, ThyssenKrupp Robins, Flsmidth and Daelim Industrial Company.
