Petrovietnam, PDVSA May Jointly Expand Dung Quat Oil Refinery In Vietnam
Published: 09-Oct-2009
Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) may work together with Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA) in developing the Dung Quat oil refinery in central Quang Ngai province, Vietnam Investment Review reported. PetroVietnam is now carrying out a feasibility study that will result in a complete expansion plan to develop the facility's annual capacity to 10 million tons of crude oil from the current 6.5 million tons a year.
Dung Quat oil refinery turned out the first batch of made-in-Vietnam oil products on February 22, 2009, meeting 30% of domestic demand on fuel.
The country plans to expand the third oil refinery (LongSon) in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, with an investment of more than $8 billion.
